The Advisory Council on Romanian Diaspora in the United Kingdom is an independent and apolitical organisation aiming to:

  •  advance the interests and boost the reputation of Romanians in the UK, 
  •  act as an independent connector between the Romanian communities and other communities in the UK, as well as between the Romanian and UK authorities, 
  •  provide high level expertise to UK and Romanian authorities, policy makers, think tanks, academic institutions, and media outlets.

The ACORD UK experts of diverse backgrounds, including the Roma community, represent a broad range of experiences, skills, and perspectives that people within the Romanian communities in the UK have developed across different fields and areas of life.

OBJECTIVES

The advancement of education and scientific knowledge about the Romanian communities in the UK through research, publications, seminars and training. ACORD UK thus enables and facilitates dialogue and collaboration between the Romanian communities in the UK and the Romanian and the UK authorities. 

 

The improvement of health outcomes of the Romanian communities by promoting public health literacy, digital inclusion, and access to health and public services in the UK.

 

The strengthening of citizenship and community development by fostering civic participation, volunteering, capacity-building and resilience of the Romanian community organisations in the UK.

 

The promotion of racial harmony, equality and diversity, knowledge, mutual understanding and constructive, non-partisan communication between the Romanian communities and wider society in the UK. ACORD UK identifies reputational risks for the Romanian communities in the UK in their early stages and develops proactive solutions, evidence-based policy recommendations, communication strategies for crisis prevention and response.
